Here is What Your Child is up to In Art for the month of November
Third Grade- After learning all about Henri Matisse and painting "The Goldfish" third graders are working on finishing up our 3-dimensional clay fish. They look amazing. We learned what it means to scratch and attach while using clay. We gave our fish big eyeballs, a tail, and fins. Your children are so creative. Next up: watercolor , salt , rubbing alcohol under the sea paintings.
Fourth Grade- Fourth Grade is learning about French artist, George Seurat. Seurat was fascinated with the scientific approach to color. He is best known for starting the art technique called pointillism. His paintings are made up of millions and millions of dots. If Seurat wanted to dot green he put blue and yellow dots next to each other so the viewer would see green. Seurat is best known for his Painting " Sunday on La Grande Jatte". We had a great conversation on what we thought, wondered and understood about this painting. Together we are drawing The banks of seine together. This is another Seurat painting. We are using Q-tips to paint our dots. Next up: Benday dots and onomatopoeias.
Fifth Grade- Fifth Graders continue to learn all about The Elements of Art. We are finishing up Line. For each Element we learn about we play a game called Kahoot, we write about the Element in books we call our Elements of Art books, we do a canvas course on the Element and then we create a project. Fifth Grade learned all about the art of doodling . We drew our names out in Block letters and then doodled around the letters. This is also called Zentangles. Next up: Color wheels and Color schemes.
