Here is What your Child is up to in Art for the month of October
Darby Creek students are working hard on creating artwork for Art to Remember. Art to Remember is a fundraiser that partners with schools to allow families the opportunity to buy items that feature their students' artwork. Over the next few weeks, be on the lookout for a packet with your child's artwork on it from Art To Remember. You will have the opportunity to purchase keepsakes with your child's artwork on them. These make wonderful Holiday gifts. Of course there is no obligation to buy.
Fifth Grade parents Only: This is the year that you may purchase a tile with your child's artwork on it to hang permanently around the showcases in the hallway. What a great way to leave behind their legacy. In your packets there will be spot for you to order this tile. It is called the "legacy tile wall."
Third Grade- Third graders just finished their Matisse Masterpiece. We painted "The Goldfish" painting. We learned how to draw a realistic fishbowl and blend colors with paint. I am amazed by your children's talent. This is the Artwork that will be sent to Art To Remember. Next up: Silly pumpkin faces then 3-dimensional clay fish.
Fourth Grade- Fourth Graders are finishing up their Claude Monet inspired paintings. We painted Monet's Japanese footbridge and all the waterlilies that were in Monet's garden. Your children did a beautiful job. We learned how to create light and shadow in our paintings. This is the artwork that will be sent to Art To Remember. Next up: 3 dimensional clay water lilies and 3-dimensional clay frogs.
Fifth Grade- Fifth Graders just finished their art work that will be sent to Art To Remember. We learned about the life and artistic style of Vincent Van Gogh. Your child got to paint what they wanted to in a Van Gogh style. We used short choppy strokes. Next up: The Elements of Art..Line
